After years of sharing crystals, stories, learning, laughter, and countless meaningful conversations, Minerals & Mystics will be closing our retail storefront over the coming weeks.
Like many small businesses, we've weathered challenge after challenge over the last several years. Rising costs, changing consumer habits, and the realities of operating a brick-and-mortar business have made this decision one of the hardest we've ever faced. While this chapter is ending sooner than we had hoped, we are choosing to look forward with gratitude for everything this community has given us.
Since the day we opened our doors, our goal has never been just to sell. We wanted to create a place where people felt welcome to ask questions, learn, explore, and find something meaningful.
Because of you, we accomplished that.
Over the next week, we'll be holding our biggest sale ever as we work to find homes for our inventory, displays, and fixtures. Every purchase helps support this transition and gives these beautiful pieces a chance to continue bringing joy to someone else.

From the owner
Some places feel like home the moment you step inside—and that’s exactly how I felt the first time I visited what is now Minerals & Mystics. Growing up in Western New York, I’d visit family in Charlottesville, and every trip included a stop at The Crystal Connection. Even as a teenager, there was something special about the shop—its warmth, its welcoming energy, and the sense of community it offered.
Fast forward to my senior year of high school, when I was on the hunt for my first job. On a whim, I asked if The Crystal Connection was hiring. Kathy Campbell, the owner, told me they weren’t—but maybe they’d need someone temporarily to help clean jewelry. I was persistent. I called, stopped by again, and eventually, Kathy told me she had no choice but to hire me! That “temporary” job turned into so much more: a lifelong passion for this work, the customers, and the store’s unique magic.
Over the years, I learned everything I could about the business—from the sales floor to the back office. After high school, through college, and beyond, The Crystal Connection was part of my life. When the world changed in 2020, so did the store. Kathy was ready to retire, and I was ready to take the next step. In August of 2020, I officially became the owner, reimagining the shop as Minerals & Mystics—but the heart, spirit, and community remain the same.
This shop has been part of Charlottesville since 1987, and I’m honored to carry forward its legacy of connection, care, and creativity. Whether you’re a longtime friend or a new face, thank you for being part of this story. I can’t wait to see what we’ll discover together.
